If you’re using my server: don’t worry, I have a lifetime pass (graciously funded by a load of my friends years ago).

But if you’re running a server of your own and don’t have a Plex Pass, now’s the time to get one. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/0

Ars Technica · Plex ups its price for first time in a decade, changes remote-streaming accessBy Kevin Purdy

@WiteWulf I can sort of see why. The Plex pass is very very cheap for what it is.

@WiteWulf I’ve been waiting for this. Wonder how they haven’t increased prices.

Now I wait for them to get rid of the lifetime pass and go full subscription.

@fistfulofdave yeah. I’ve had my worries about the longevity of the Lifetime Pass for a while now. This, at least, suggests it has a few years in it yet.

@WiteWulf @fistfulofdave only use the benefits for Plexamp and would hate to see that go as alternative is Roon which is horrendously expensive for what it is

@vnvobit @WiteWulf and its audio streaming isn’t nearly as good. I missed a lot of Plexamp functionality when I tested it.

@fistfulofdave @WiteWulf I uninstalled during the trial as it wasn't good at identifying tracks even though they had been properly tagged and its key selling point (information pages on what you are listening to) is easily replicated in Lyrion(formerly Squeezebox) which is free
