The Verge has a breakdown of the policy changes at Facebook, Instagram and Threads yesterday.
It is, in my opinion, deeply uncomfortable.

I intend to fully defederate Threads.net from Cyberplace.social in two weeks, so 23rd January 2025, unless they clarify their moderation policies.
People are welcome to migrate their account in advance to avoid losing their followers from Threads.
The reason being I cannot accept terms of service enforcement which specifically targets minority groups.
Meta's new documentation has overlaps with Kiwi Farms. It is not okay.
I have defederated Threads.net from cyberplace.social as prior announced two weeks ago, due to policy enforcement that aligns them hate sites like Kiwi Farms.
I am pro-federation. I only fully suspend 6 instances here, with 4 of those containing child porn, so Meta joins a unique club.
I will remove the block if they revise their policies and enforcement to sound less like a 7 year old boy on 8chan.
@GossiTheDog thanks Kevin, it’s the right move
@GossiTheDog I originally thought Threads integration was a positive, and was disappointed in servers that refused to federate on the basis of what I saw to be an abstract threat. They were probably right, though I still can't bring myself to feel it. Regardless, now there's an active, explicit threat, and I think this is the right move. I would support Mastodon.Social defederating too.
@GossiTheDog being a Nazi bar isn't enough, it has to be rude about it? Late.
@GossiTheDog Appreciate the transparency.
@GossiTheDog well done
@GossiTheDog Do CSAM sites get reported to authorities for takedown, or is takedown just impossible? Not sure how that works in fediverse.
@skry @GossiTheDog the servers are somewhere!
